Mindful Stocking Fillers for Preschoolers

As much as I'd love to say that all my minibeast's Christmas gifts this year are to encourage peace + mindfulness, his three-year-old heart has other ideas. So most of his gifts will be cars, obviously. But I do think there is a place for these mindful toys at Christmas, + that place is in a stocking.

Remember, Christmas stockings don't have to be crazy expensive + have the best ever gifts inside. I actually think stocking gifts should be fun, silly, + cheap, but also serve a purpose.

Most of these were found in the pocket money toy section of a supermarket; some were even homemade (breathing bracelet + squishy balloon). But they all would bring smiles on Christmas day - I know that for a fact because Charlie sat next to me as I filmed this, + kept taking the toys to play with himself!

Some ideas:

Something squishy - a stress ball, squishy toy, or flour filled balloon - perfect for releasing anger in a safe way.

Sensory balls - the sensation of the spiky balls can give a great massage for little bodies, + flashing lights can help little ones focus

Sand timer - something to concentrate on, watching the glittering sand fall can be mesmerising!

Bubbles - practice blowing bubbles to naturally extend exhales

Poppers + fidget chains - fidget toys are so simple, but really capture a little one's attention, bringing moments of peace to their day. Also, having something tactile to play with can occupy parts of the brain that are easily distracted, actually allowing children to concentrate on other things.

Breathing bracelet - a physical reminder to slow down + breathe.

I won't lie, most of these were taken from my boy's calm box + are already in regular use in our house. I'd love to add to our collection though - any more ideas?
